Born in 1960 in
Tübingen, Charlotte studied Art Teaching and Painting at
the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. Diploma awarded in 1985.
After studying in New York in 1981 she developed an irresistible
desire to design hats and obtained the know-how working with
a master of
millinery in Rottenburg. She began with art performances on
the theme “art hats”. After opening a studio and
a shop in Stuttgart in 1985, she began to create not only art
hats but also crazy hats for more or less “normal”
occasions.
In 1986 she worked at the State Theatre in Stuttgart in the
clothing department, specializing in hat designs for plays and
operas.
Since 1986 she has been teaching costume design at the Academy
of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 2003 she opened a studio in Marbella,
Spain and organizes regular exhibitions at art galleries and
museums and appears in numerous publications, the press and
on TV.
